Roast Leg of Lamb

This deliciously flavored dish requires little or no effort on your. Roast leg of lamb according to this recipe is very simple to prepare, but it takes a long time. First, marinate the meat for several hours, and then bake for 6 hours. But it’s worth it!

Ingredients:

  • Leg of lamb – 1.5-2 kg.
  • Bulb onions – 1 pc.
  • Ground zira – 1 tsp
  • Ground coriander – 1 tsp
  • Black pepper ground
  • Sea salt of medium (or coarse) grinding
  • Vegetable oil – 1 tbsp.
  • Foil
For mint sauce
  • Fresh mint – 1 bunch
  • Sugar – 1 tsp
  • Wine vinegar – 1-2 tbsp (to taste)

Cooking process

1 Cut off excess fat from the leg of lamb. But not all! We remove only very thick parts of it.

Rub the leg on all sides with vegetable oil, spices and salt.

Put the prepared leg in a ziplock bag or in a vacuum bag. Put it to marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours. And it is best to leave it overnight, then the lamb will be even more saturated with spices and will be more aromatic.

2 Get the lamb from the refrigerator. Let her stand at room temperature for about an hour.

3 Chop the peeled onion into thick rings. Put it on foil, put the mutton on top. Wrap everything together in foil. And put in an oven preheated to 130 C degrees (270 F) . Bake for 5-6 hours.

4 Remove the foil from the meat 15 minutes before the end of baking. Increase the temperature in the oven to 200 degrees and brown it on the grill mode.

We take out the finished leg of lamb from the oven, cover with foil and let stand for 20 minutes.

5 This roast leg of lamb is recommended to be served with English mint sauce. This is a great duet. Making this sauce is very simple.

Mix sugar with a spoonful of boiling water. The sugar should be completely dissolved. Add finely chopped mint and wine vinegar. Mix well. The sauce should not be sweet and sour.
