Jamon and Orange Salad

If you haven’t tried salads with fruits and berries yet, I highly recommend doing so. Many fruits complement the familiar salad ingredients and add interesting flavor notes to the dish. I previously shared a recipe for a classic ham salad, but today’s recipe is more unusual and vibrant due to the addition of oranges. This jamon and orange salad can be prepared for a festive table or a romantic dinner.

Ingredients (for 2 servings):

  • Jamon – 50-70 g
  • Orange – 1 large
  • Mozzarella – 50 g
  • Arugula – a handful
  • Lamb’s lettuce – a handful
  • Olive oil – 2 tbsp
  • Liquid honey – 1 tsp
  • Black ground pepper

Cooking process

Arrange the prepared greens – arugula and lamb’s lettuce on a plate.

Slice half of the orange into circles, peel it, and cut each circle into 3-4 parts. Distribute it evenly over the greens.

Place the mozzarella. If you have larger pieces instead of small balls, simply tear it into smaller pieces.

Next, arrange the jamon. Jamon can be replaced with other cured meats, just make sure to slice it very thinly.

Sprinkle the salad with orange zest, grated from 1/2 of the orange.

Let’s prepare the dressing for our salad. Mix olive oil and freshly squeezed orange juice in a 1:1 ratio (squeeze from the remaining half of the orange). Add a teaspoon of honey and mix well.

Drizzle the salad with the prepared dressing.

Sprinkle the finished jamon and orange salad with freshly ground black pepper.

Enjoy!

Jamon itself is quite salty, so I don’t add extra salt to the salad. However, you can salt it slightly before adding the dressing.
