Paneer in Indian sauce

Delicate cheese paneer in Indian sauce is an original Indian-style dish. Like most Indian dishes, it is bright and very spicy.

Ingredients:

  • Paneer cheese – 400 gr.
  • Coconut cream – 200 ml.
  • Water – 200 ml.
  • Onion – 1 pc.
  • Ginger root – 3 cm.
  • Garlic – 5 cloves
  • Tomato puree – 2 tbsp.
  • Seasoning Garam Masala – 0.5 tsp
  • Zira ground – 0.5 tsp
  • Ground coriander – 0.5 tsp
  • Vegetable oil (or ghee) – 1-2 tbsp.
  • Salt – to taste
  • Green onions or cilantro for serving

Cooking process

1 Mix ground coriander, zira and Garam masala. Optionally, you can add a pinch of hot pepper. Add some coconut cream to the spices and mix thoroughly. Pour the remaining cream and 200 ml. warm water. Salt. Stir. Coconut cream and water can be replaced with coconut milk.

2 Cut the onion into small cubes. Fry it in a preheated pan with vegetable oil (or ghee) until golden brown. Approximately 5-7 minutes.

Add chopped garlic cloves and finely grated ginger root to the onion. Mix. Fry for a minute. Add tomato puree, mix. Fry for another minute.

3 Pour the spiced coconut cream into the pan. Mix. Bring to a boil.

Add paneer cheese, cut into large cubes, to the sauce. Bring to a boil. The fire must be kept to a minimum. Turn off gas.

This dish can be served with freshly baked flatbread. For example, I cook cakes on kefir. It is very tasty to dip such a flatbread in the sauce.

Also suitable as a side dish and rice.

Ready paneer in sauce can be sprinkled with finely chopped fresh herbs.
